To do impossible things, we must make impossible efforts

To do impossible things, we must make impossible efforts. When it seems like the whole world is in doubt or denial about what is possible, you have to fight for your right mind if you are going to stand for something that other's don't. Let there be a fair trial.

We can start by being as clear as possible about the words we use. There are no miracles.

I am not asking you to take my word for it, you can see for yourself.  No amount of wishful thinking is going to make a fact of Nature give up the ghost and stop being true. If something is, it is. There is no going back, or changing a fact.

What can and does change is what we think we can do about a fact. This may be where some of the confusion lies. A better world is constantly in the progress of being constructed on the foundation of what we have learned from uncovering false and limiting beliefs and understandings. Some might call this a miracle, but there is nothing supernatural about it.

Byron Katie has given us a simple way to test the reality of our beliefs with four questions she calls “The Work.” We can use the questions to free ourselves from thoughts that cause our suffering, and do battle with lazy thinking. "All war begins on paper," Katie explains.

For your Learning Story today, begin with your idea of the impossible.

Notice the facts of your situation. Write down your stressful thoughts. What are the facts that you have no control over?

Recognize your habit of confusing what is out of your control with what is impossible. Whatever the thought may be, ask yourself: Is it true? Can you absolutely know it’s true? How do you react—what happens—when you believe that thought? And finally, who would you be without that thought?

Respond by identifying what your heart desires. Do you want to be free from the stress of your false or limiting beliefs or understanding? This is not about what somebody else says you should do, or what you wish you could do if the circumstances were different. This is not about what somebody else thinks is possible or impossible. That is the type of thinking that was stressing you out in the first place.

This is about you and your sovereign capacity to know your own mind.  What do you want to do?
